We at CBRC choose to be a company that supports diversity in our hiring and work practices. We believe that all people should be treated equally, regardless of race, religion, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, or identity, and that black lives matter is not just a movement, it is a fundamental truth. We have been deeply affected by the continued violence, injustice, and racism that the black people in this country face. This is not a political issue, it is human a rights issue. You have seen this statement from others, and you see it from us now. To stay silent is to perpetuate the violence and systemic oppression that black, brown, and indigenous people face every day. We state here and now that we believe that systems that permit racism and continued injustice are wrong.
During this time we have, and will continue to review our policies to ensure they are inclusive and equitable. We have had many open discussions with staff, and always allow them the time to exercise their freedom of speech. This is a time for reflection, and as a company, we are committing to educating ourselves and making whatever changes we need to be better. Our first plan is to further elaborate on the words in our mission, Coffee · Community · Clean Water; how we define them, how they are intertwined, how we support them, and how our actions apply to communities locally, as well as globally. We look forward to sharing more with you.
